Typographic Countdown
In the lead-up to the New Year FontShop has been ticking-off the days by highlighting a glyph every day on its log. Each letterform comes with a short description on its origins.
For example, did you know that ‘H’ appears to have its earliest recorded origins in Egypt, where the character depicted a fence or wall? Or that ‘K’ represents a palm and spread fingers? They are already on ‘z’ so I’d be interested what’s coming next over the final few days. Some numbers or ligatures?
Kondolar font. I just adore the small “g” in that font.
Pace font.
Esta, Small Caps Italic
Lavigne Display, Bold Italic

Harfang is one of the most beautiful new fonts that I have seen this year. I certainly can not explain why - but I adore this font. Consider it my new Times New Roman (or Georgia as matter of fact).

Stretched and squashed Helvetica.

Combination of Garmond and Trade Gothic.
Some more great fonts I just discovered:
The FF Yoga family is a type system by Xavier Dupré conceived for newspapers and magazines thanks to its strong personality and good legibility.
What makes FF Yoga so attractive is that is just the better Frutiger.
While Adelle is a slab serif typeface conceived specifically for intensive editorial use, mainly in newspapers and magazines, its personality and flexibility make it a real multiple-purpose typeface.
Adelle is one of the few slab-serif fonts that just doesn’t get boring after a while.
PTL Superla Complete is an ideal blockbusting industrial font which blends in perfectly with dirty and sweaty environments.
Don’t know, but try spelling Maschinenbau with Superla.
Type Juan José Saer and you’ll know why Lavigne is a marvelous piece of artistry by ReType.
ITC Garamond, Condensed Bold Italic
Geogrotesque by Emtype.
