  Here are some cash facts from Wikipedia’s list on the most expensive paintings:

  • Current most expensive is Jackson Pollok’s No. 5 with $151.8 million.
  • Total price for all of Picasso’s 10 pieces in this list are a whopping $839.1 million.
  • David Geffen (who?) sold 3 pieces worth a total of $369.6 million.
  • Sotheby’s auctioned paintings worth over $1 billion.
  • Total price of all the paintings on the list are a mere $3 billion (Bill Gates could buy all of them - just for kicks).
  • Interesting fact: Whereas Picasso became a rich man, Van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime.
  • Steven Cohen is the most listed buyer, buying paintings for over $300 million.

  Obviously Picasso is totally overrated. Don’t get what the deal is with his art.
